Welcome to Year 3!
This term our topic is called ‘Urban Pioneers’.
Hop on the bus and take a trip downtown, where the lights are bright and every street has a story to tell.
Explore with fresh eyes the art of the city, then capture a moment in time – perhaps a reflection on a building or a shadow passing by. Make a map of your home town and find out how things have changed. Has time changed town life for the better?
How could you improve the urban environment? Maybe add more colour? More light? More things to do, or perhaps a plaza with a comfortable bench or two?
Or maybe like Emil, the city astounds you with its sights and sounds and people rushing by.
Now light up the city with creations of your own… a statue, a light show, a monument or street art. The possibilities are endless so what will you choose?
You’re an urban pioneer…so get ready to go!
Maths homework will be given out on a Friday and needs to be handed in by Thursday morning at the latest.
Spelling words will be given out on a Tuesday for a spelling test on the Friday. As part of the homework, there may also be a written activity to be completed for Friday also.
There is an expectation that children will read daily at home, either independently or with an adult, and they should record this reading in their reading booklet.
PE will usually be taught on Tuesdays and Fridays, however PE kits must be in school at all times. This term, Year 3 will be going swimming on Mondays until the 6th November.
‘Show and tell’ does not usually take place in Year 3, but if your child has a significant achievement that they would like to share then please let me know.
We want the children to have an exciting, happy and productive term. If you have any problems or questions, please do not hesitate to come and see me after school.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs Curtis and the Year 3 team
