Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

We have an exciting term ahead of us. We are all really looking forward to the interesting and engaging work that we will be producing together.

In theme, we will be Geography detectives finding out about rivers, and rocks.

Much of our English work will be linked to our theme and will include writing stories and non-fiction texts.

In Maths, the children will be learning about time so it would really help if you could start to discuss the time on an analogue clock with your children before we start the topic!

In Science we will be learning about plants and will be growing some plants for the children to bring home and nurture.

Homework

There will be a spelling test on Friday and the children will be given their new spellings on the Monday before. Please make sure your child practises their spellings every day. Whilst we always endeavour to give results on a Friday but sometimes this is not possible so the children will get them the following Monday.

Children will be bringing reading books home and it is still really important that the children are reading every day. Children's reading diaries will be checked on a daily basis.  The children all have a log on to Times Table Rockstars and they should be completing 30 mins on the garage or studio each week

PE

Our PE day is Wednesday. On these days, we are asking the children to come into school in their full PE kit, including trainers. Please can the children make sure they have suitable outdoor clothing for the summer including a hat and wearing sun cream when it is very hot.

Water bottles

Please can all children make sure they have a labelled water bottle with them each day; they are welcome to fill their bottle up throughout the day at school.

The Year Three team will be working hard to ensure the children have a happy, productive and successful term. If you have any questions, please email these to schooloffice@sacredheart.peterborough.sch.uk and these will be forwarded to us and we will get back to you.

Thank you for your continued support.
