Connecting Classrooms - Shanghai
Wednesday saw us play host to the visitors from our twinned Chinese School Shanghai South Middle School. The whole school enjoyed a fascinating and very informative presentation from Miss Laura, who showed us many different elements of their school day. We enjoyed seeing video footage of the children performing at their dance clubs, and martial arts classes, which is an element of the curriculum which is compulsory in China. In return, they also very much enjoyed looking around our school, which they very quickly identified as having a 'family feel', which they very much admired, and meeting with our staff and children. They observed a number of lessons being taught, particularly enjoying the Fair trade lesson taught by Mr Cooper, and the children participating in their Jolly Phonics Session in Foundation Stage. They also enjoyed looking around our outside areas, and enjoyed observing an Eco lesson with Mrs Ward, as they do not have sustainability on the curriculum in Shanghai. We have put Miss Laura's presentation on to our School website for parents to enjoy too.
