Holy Family
We are so excited to welcome you back and cannot wait to get stuck into to all the exciting work we have planned! We also have a huge celebration to look forward to – we will be celebrating our first birthday this September and we would love to celebrate this together with our wonderful Holy Family families!
English
In English we will continue to work on sentence formation and structure, as well as our spelling and handwriting. We will be reading a fabulous storybook about the NASA Mars rover, Curiosity and producing our own fact-files on Curiosity.
Maths
In Maths, we will be revisiting place value first before moving onto fractions and length and perimeter.
History/Design and Technology
We will be learning about the Kings and Queens who have ruled in the UK and learning about what life was like in their times. We will link this to our DT work where we will be investigating castles and planning and making our own.
Science
In Science our topic is Forces and Magnetism. We will learn about a range of forces including magnetism and magnets. We will carry out investigations into magnetism and magnetic and non-magnetic metals.
Computing and Art
We know our pupils enjoy making models and using animation software. We will be completing a unit of work learning and mastering the use of the Stop Motion Animation app on the iPads and look forward to sharing our masterpieces with you. Our Art topic is Tell a Story, where we will make booklets illustrating scenes for our own characters using specific drawing techniques.
RE
Our RE branch is Creation and Covenant where will learn about God who created and calls all people. We will investigate the Creation stories in the Bible and learn about special people in the Bible who were given promises by God such as Noah and Moses.
PE
PE will take place on a Monday and children will need to come to school in their PE kit, including trainers.
Other classroom information
Please ensure your child has a water bottle in school. We like to spend as much time outside as we can, learning in the outside environment, even when the weather is not perfect. Please ensure that your child has wellies and a coat in school at all times, as well as other warm clothing.
We are looking forward to another successful Holy Family year with lots of fun and learning!
